Leadership for Social Change

Class Description:

This course provides an opportunity for students to explore leadership theory and practice through a
critical lens. By applying concepts and critiques from critical theory to well-known theories and models
of leadership, this course will help students gain important skills in critical thinking and analysis, become
aware of the experiences and struggles of leaders from marginalized backgrounds, and learn to
deconstruct dominant ideologies and understandings of leadership. But most importantly, this course will
help students consider leadership through a lens of equity and will frame ways to reconstruct our
collective understanding of leadership and leadership practice to be more inclusive and justice-oriented.
