Buckeye Library Leaders

We assist with their homework help center and couple their initiatives with our extended programing.

The Buckeye Library Leaders is a partnership with the Columbus Metropolitan Library system. There are 23 libraries in Central Ohio and we volunteer with six of them.

The program is designed to empower K-12 youth of greater Columbus to be leaders inside and outside of the classroom. Through engagement, students are able to connect with Ohio State volunteers on a weekly basis to participate in an innovative, hands-on curriculum. The curriculum is based on four pillars: literacy, STEM, social/emotional intelligence and the arts.

Outside of curriculum engagement, youth also have the opportunity to meet and interact with professionals within their career interests from scientists to architects and many more. The program goal is to improve skills in the areas of teamwork, discipline, time management and creativity, challenging students to strive for a future that includes a college degree to grant access to a fulfilling career.

Libraries are a significant pillar in the community. Specifically with our focus area of community development through neighborhood transformation, libraries are an organic meeting space for the community to gather and access resources and literacy enrichment opportunities.
