Social Change has three main focus areas: Community Development through Neighborhood Transformation, Pre K-12 Education and Restorative Justice. All three focus areas are interconnected and guide the department's program development.
Each focus area has a subset of action items and at the center is the overarching focus of trauma informed care. Being trauma informed and centered allows volunteers and the community to engage in reciprocal learning, aids in progressive program implementation and execution and strengthens the development of active citizens within the community.
The intersections of our three focus areas provide a deeper contextual layer to why our programs are implemented. Each intersection contains elements that impact the advancement of communities.
