Civic Engagement & Volunteer Recognition Banquet

In the University’s mission to provide Buckeyes with not only a diploma, but an “Education for Citizenship,” the Office of Student Life’s Social Change recognizes those in our community making great changes and impacts in civic engagement and service. Awards are named after notable philanthropists and are given to individuals embodying that service to others.

The work of Social Change would not be possible without the hundreds of volunteers, donors, and community partners every year!

In an effort to create the extraordinary student experience and create a culture of appreciation, Social Change hosts an annual Civic Engagement & Volunteer Appreciation Brunch! The Volunteer Appreciation Brunch is an event where Community Leaders, Social Change Ambassadors, Mentors, donors, and community supporters gather in fellowship. This event recognizes our most outstanding volunteers, donors, and community partners.

Social Change Ambassadors may nominate individuals for their impact in our schools, community and beyond across a series of recognition categories. Additionally, to honor the founder of Social Change, one Mentor is recognized for the Dr. Patty Outstanding Service award. The recipient is a Mentor who shows outstanding dedication to their respective program in Social Change and continues to be dedicated to service and making a change beyond university involvement.

Social Change will host the Sixth Annual Civic Engagement & Volunteer Recognition Banquet on April 26, 2020 at 2:30pm at the Frank Hale Cultural Center; "Hale Hall". This event will recognize those at the university and in the surrounding community. Nominees must epitomize Ohio State's mission of “Education for Citizenship” and its values of service learning and engagement.

We encourage anyone, regardless of their affiliation with Ohio State, to nominate a Community Leader or current Ohio State student who truly embodies the spirit of paying forward and the university motto “Education for Citizenship”. Please read through the award categories to nominate these change makers.

This banquet is funded through the generous support of central Ohio businesses and their sponsorships. Not only do we recognize the significant role community partners and businesses in the central Ohio area play in fostering a tremendous culture of civic engagement in Columbus, but we would like to cordially invite any interested company to be a part of this extraordinary event.
