Ohio State students working with Gladden Food Pantry are responsible for but not limited to, organizing food deliveries, stocking pantry shelves, helping resident apply for SNAP through Ohio benefit bank, coordination of workshops on couponing, healthy meals and other duties assigned.
Gladden serves Franklinton and the surrounding communities to enhance the wellbeing of the neighborhoods to become equitable and thriving. Gladden food pantry provides emergency food for those living in these areas. Donations at the food pantry assist infants to the elderly and is an important initiative because Franklinton is considered a food desert. A food desert is an area in which fresh fruits and vegetables are not easily obtainable. 60% of residents live below the poverty line and 93% of students at the public elementary school are eligible for free or reduced lunches.
